Suw, I'm sad to see the Sequence butchered like this. I read the books when I was 11 and I enjoyed them immensely. When I heard that they were being made into movie, I promptedly bought the Sequence book and I'm slowly fingering my way through it. It's been a suitable break from the story, and I'm reliving it all over again. It's sad to hear that the very hallmarks of the story are being sacrificed at the altar of financial gain. The producers are obviously eyeing the success of Tolkien and Lewis adaptations with glee, looking to monetise one of the last bastion's of British youth fiction. I guess we will always have the books, it's just sad to see a homogenised interpretation of the tale make it to celluloid, when it could have more compelling.
