I've now permanently moved my blog over to http://chocolateandvodka.com/ and will no long be updating this version, other than with the occasional summary of new posts. Please do not leave comments here, but instead find the equivalent post on my new site, and comment there instead. Comments left here will not be published, as I'd like to keep things all together on the new installation. Sorry if this is an inconvenience.
Re: Re: The red line of death

As far as I can tell, in this case it is the connectors between the ribbon cable and the screen which are slowly giving up the ghost. When I plug the laptop into a desktop monitor, the lines are gone so it's not the video card. It's not the ribbon because when I torque the screen just so, the lines go (although only one line at a time vanishes, of course). I would be betting that your problem is similar, although surely your display is covered by warrenty?
