I've now permanently moved my blog over to http://chocolateandvodka.com/ and will no long be updating this version, other than with the occasional summary of new posts. Please do not leave comments here, but instead find the equivalent post on my new site, and comment there instead. It sounds to me as if a small connection from the ribbon cable to the screen has been detached. Rather than going to an Apple shop, you might want to try and computer, TV specialist or anywhere that deals with microtechnology, such as mobile phones or digital cameras.
