An ideal shortcut : Go to Crete. Find a shop that does gift soap in the little traditional woolen Cretan pattern bags (There's one in Kavros, over the road from Vantaris Beach hotel). Dump soap. Hey Presto! Ethnic Ipod bag. Plus you get to go to Crete for a holiday.
