Today is the Autumnal Equinox, the last day of summer and the beginning of the slow descent into winter. It feels like summer ended weeks ago, actually, but today it's official. So now I fix my eyes on the Winter Solstice, the day when we start climbing out of this dank, miserable pit and begin looking forward again to spring.
I really do need to overwinter somewhere warm and sunny.

Oh yes, I seem to remember a weird glowing orb in the sky... did that have something to do with summer?

Yeah.... Apparently its called the SUN or some such thing. Possibly named after the newspaper.
Have a look on wikipedia, or wait until next year when it is scheduled to make its yearly 45 minute appearence. Re: Re: The end of summer

Well, if it so seldom puts in an appearance, it can't be that important.

Oh stop complaining. We had a glorious summer - aside from August when the weather was summer storms.
Personally I prefer Autumn. At least in London - there's something about the cold crispness in the air. of course, it just rains endlessly in Cardiff... Re: The end of summer

You hit this right on the nose! I really enjoy your weblog and I was so fascinated to find you discussing this exact issue after having had a conversation with a friend on the topic last night. I'll be visiting here often, do you mind if I add you to my blog list?
