I had a dream the other night. I dreamt I was in a seminar and the speaker was really interesting (yes, you can tell it's a dream already, can't you?), and I was desperate to keep a record of what was being said. I had my iPod with me, but was sunk deep in disappointment because they're a one-way device - sound comes out but it doesn't go in. But then lo! And behold! I look at my iPod and there's a little mic so I can use it like a dictaphone and record the lecture. And then lo again! And behold again! There's a wee little camera and suddenly I can take pictures with my iPod too, just as if it was a cameraphone.
Then I woke up.
My iPod is still unable to record audio or take photos. Which is, if you ask me, a wasted opportunity. The new iPod photo might well have a swish new screen and the ability to display photos... but really, what good is it? How many times have you been walking down the street and then suddenly thought 'oh damn, I really wish I had a photo of my cat on me'. Never gonna happen. Whereas if you could take photos with your iPod...
Come on, wouldn't that just be soooooo cool?
Oh, and one last thing. When one has a thing of beauty, such as an iPod, one has to wonder why the earphones are so... average. It would be so much nicer if they were moulded to fit in the ear more comfortably. Come on Apple, raise your game.

Hey Suw, have you checked out the Griffin iTalk at all? Gives you voice-recording capabilities to iPods. Belkin also have an iPod Voice Recorder.
As I don't (yet) have an iPod I havn't tried these out so hopefully someone else will comment... Re: Re: iPods - the future

Well, yesterday as I was being mugged by a pack of mice I certainly could have done with it. Re: iPods - the future

More comfortable earphones are available - unfortunately they cost extra. And I'm convinced that an iPod with a built-in camera is the next logical step up from the iPod photo.
